While filming this project I faced few hindrances along the way, For instance when I started filming I was holding the camera, which made the filming a bit tedious and made the screen a bit shaky. So, then I asked someone to film it for me. This made it easier for me to ask questions to the interviewee and maintain an eye contact, which made the interviewee feel more comfortable. The second problem was putting all the material together in iMovie. I was confused a lot of times about which video clips to include in the final edit and which ones needed to be discarded. This decision was made on the content of the interviewees and the amount of information they gave about the topic in discussion. From the technical point of editing the movie I used the collaborative method where I asked common questions and put the answers of the interviewees to the same question together to help highlight the differences in perspective. Also I showed the question scrolling on the screen rather than showing my question being asked in the video. During my filming process, my third interviewee gave a psychological perspective to the topic in hand and so I used her interviewee as the last interview to help in concluding with the information she shared with me.
I wanted to end my movie my showing the people holding a sheet of paper with that one thing they would like to change about their appearance written on it just so that they could look better in their profile pictures or the pictures they post on other social networking sites. The ending of the movie with the placard idea posed as a problem during editing because using still pictures instead video clips made the editing a bit more complicated and was time consuming how to get the video moving in a pattern that I wanted. Through the interviews I learnt a lot about my project and the topic that I have taken up. There were certain answers that I was predicting but some of the answers shocked and surprised me. Over all filming was a lot of fun and editing was a bit frustrating but I hope it was all worth the effort.
